Two weeks have already passed since Julia bade her farewell to Jacob. They have said goodbye for a number of times. But that day was the last one. He will never come back.
She thought she already shed all her tears but every time she remembers him, she would still cry silently. Where ever she went, she would recognize his memory. No matter how she tried to forget, Jacob left a permanent mark in her heart and every part of her being. Every time she closes her eyes at night, his face would appear again and all their memories would keep coming back.
Siting on a coffee table facing the window of her room, Julia blankly stared outside. She woke up quite early today. The sky looks clear and the sun rays can be seen from her window. The rain that had been pouring for a week had finally stopped. Maybe this is also a sign for her. She now realized that some things are not meant to be. No matter how hard you try and keep on holding.
She quickly dialed a familiar number. After giving a significant amount of thinking for several days, she finally made up her mind. This is the only way she can preserve her sanity.
“Hello.”
“Alice, I need your help.”
“Speak.”
Five minutes later, the call ended. Julia got up from her seat and made a few strides to get out of her room. She then went down stairs and find her parents having breakfast. They were quite surprise to see her. She mostly stayed in her room for the past week and requested to be left alone. Her eyes are still swollen from continued crying.
“Hi mom,dad.”
“Darling, you’re just in time. Come, this is your favorite breakfast.” Julia can see her mom Amanda tried to invite her enthusiastically.
“We’re going to your Uncle Frank’s resort in today. Would you like to join us?” Her father Aaron invited her tentatively.
Julia can feel how her parents tried very hard to be calmed and understanding. She was truly thankful that they allowed her to grieve. She knows that behind those smiles, her parents are worried of her well being. She had lost 15 pounds in just two weeks.
“I’ll go with you dad, mom.”
Julia can see the surprise and relief on her parents’ faces and she was a little guilty. Later, when they will be settled on the resort she will definitely tell them her plans. For sure they will be worried, but for now, she felt that this is the best option for her. Her fragile heart is not ready for the coming storm.
