My Life is a Cliché

My life is a cliché

of rose gardens

that nobody ever promised …

Yet I am told

to gather rosebuds

while I can

so I can wear rose-tainted specs …

And when the thorns hurt

I have to let time

heal my wounds …

By then I hope

that crows have finally

turned white

and pigs have wings

at last.
